Obituary for Virgil Gillis
VIRGIL ARCHIE GILLIS age 68 Died on Monday May 15, 2023 at U of M Hospital in Ann Arbor MI.
Born in Mt. Pleasant, Son of Stanley & Loretta (Gorby)Gillis. Virgil was the oldest of 8 children. Graduated from MPHS in 1973 and studied Mechanics at Mid-Michigan Community College. He was a great mechanic and knew his cars inside and out, he had such a love for cars and had many he loved, especially his Ford Mustang! In his spare time, he Loved making model cars, playing Euchre, watching the Detroit Tigers and Lions, going to mud bog shows, listening to music, especially classic rock, and had a Love for cats!!
To know Virgil was to Love him with his kind heart great sense of humor and a Love for life! He always had a laugh or a smile and he always saw the good in everything and everyone 😊
Virgil is survived by his mother Loretta (Gorby)Gillis, siblings Jamie (Lori) Gillis of Mt. Pleasant, Pam(Doug)Winkler of Haslett, Peggy(Greg)Oneil of Lansing, Nancy Gillis of Mt. Pleasant and Pat(Dusty)Gillis of Mt. Pleasant and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Gillis in1998, brother Tim Gillis in 2015, Terry Gillis in 1985, and his partner of 20 years Yvonne Harvey in 2018.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 11 at 3:00pm at Memorial Gardens Chapel, 740 S Mission, Mt. Pleasant, with a luncheon to follow at the VFW Hall, 4841 E. Pickard, Mt Pleasant.
