Obituary for Gary Veenstra
Gary Allen Veenstra, age 61, passed away on Friday, August 19th after a year-long battle with cancer, with his daughters by his side.
Gary was born October 4, 1960, the son of Ronald and Elaine (Wierenga) Veenstra. He grew up in Jenison, MI and graduated from Unity Christian High School. Gary moved to Remus, MI in 2000 with his former wife Shelly (Karcher) Veenstra, where he started and ran his business, IDOC Irrigation, Inc., for 20 years.
Gary loved deer hunting, fishing, camping and everything to do with being outdoors alongside his kids and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his two daughters, who were his pride and joy, Emily Veenstra and Rebecca Veenstra; his step-son Matthew Werback; his two step-grandsons Keegan Aikens and Bentley Werback; his father Ronald Veenstra; and two sisters Cheri (Roger) Lutke and Cindy (James) Austin, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Elaine Veenstra and sister Vicki Zandstra.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held for family and friends at a later date.
