Obituary for Charmane Corcoran

Charmane Kay Corcoran of Lansing and Mt Pleasant, MI, passed from this life to the joys of the next on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the age of 71.. She was born in 1951 in Lansing and graduated from Haslett High School in 1969. She held an Associate’s Degree in business administration from Lansing Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Communications and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, both from Michigan State University. A lifelong learner, she also studied at Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the Master of Divinity program. She was employed as a cashier at Meijer in Okemos for 15 years and as support staff and administrator for 26 years at Michigan State. There she worked as a webmaster and in the area of handicapper access to computers and the internet. She published articles on this subject online, was a speaker at national conferences and took part in the World Wide Web Consortium. Her most significant accomplishment was raising two excellent young men, Vince a pastor and Alex, a healer.

She is survived by James P “Jim” Corcoran, her husband of 46 years, her sons Vince (Shay) Corcoran of Bedford TX and Alex (Niki) Corcoran of Washington NC, grandchildren Micah and Noah Phillips, Levi Gray and Wylde Hope, Charlotte and Kai Corcoran, her sister Beth (Bill) Crane of Dayton, Ohio, nieces Jacquie (Cori) Gawthrop, Amy (“Gwen”) Crane, and Meghan Roberts, nephew Geoff Crane, grandniece Aryana Gawthrop and grandnephews Ayden Gawthrop and Devon Roberts. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Reid and Neva Deyarmond and Fred and Hazel Stephens, her parents, Vernon and Deloris Stephens, her brothers, David and Vernon Charles (“Charlie”) Stephens and her nephew, Bradley Stephens. She is a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and over the years was an active member of the Work of Christ Community, East Lansing, Lansing Vineyard, Okemos, and Potter’s House Family Worship Center, Mt Pleasant. She has a beautiful singing voice, played guitar and tambourine, was a song writer, enjoyed deep theological discussions, writing and making and collecting jewelry. She is now in the presence of Jesus and with those she loves who have gone on ahead of her, dancing in fields of flowers of indescribable beauty.

Cremation will take place at Daisy Hill Crematory. A celebration of her life will be held at Potter’s House Family Worship Center, 5346 E Deerfield Rd, Mt Pleasant, MI 48858, on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 2pm with her son Reverend Vince Corcoran and Pastors Ron and Carla Ives officiating.
